Our tour commences this morning when we assemble at the Japan Airlines lobby at the airport for baggage check-in procedures.  We will depart Honolulu to Narita International Airport.  A meal and a snack will be served on board the flight.

 

Friday, January 16 (Day 02)
NARITA to BANGKOK (THAILAND)
We arrive Narita Airport for a short layover, then depart for our flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, we will clear entry and customs formalities, then transfer to our hotel for check-in procedures.

Saturday, January 17 (Day 03)
FLOATING MARKET & CHATUCHAK WEEKEND MARKET (B)
We will start our morning with a visit to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market, a relaxed, authentic market that offers a genuine slice of Thai culture. Here, we’ll enjoy a scenic boat ride along the canals, passing local homes and gardens, while exploring the bustling market where vendors sell fresh produce, street food, and handmade goods directly from their boats and canalside stalls. After lunch, we will continue our shopping adventure at the vibrant Chatuchak Weekend Market. With over 15,000 stalls, it is one of the largest outdoor markets in the world, attracting nearly 200,000 visitors every weekend. From handcrafted treasures to tantalizing street delicacies, this market offers a sensory-rich experience that captures the essence of Bangkok’s cultural tapestry.

Sunday, January 18 (Day 04)
KANCHANABURI - BRIDGE OVER RIVER KWAI & TRAIN RIDE (B) (L)
This morning, we will drive west of Bangkok to visit Kanchanaburi, a scenic riverside town where the Khwae Yai and Khwae Noi rivers meet to form the Mae Klong River. Our journey through history begins at the JEATH War Museum, named after Japan, England, Australia, Thailand, and Holland, which documents the harrowing experiences of prisoners of war and forced laborers who constructed the infamous Death Railway during World War II. This railway is also known for inspiring the 1957 film, The Bridge on the River Kwai, although the movie is a fictionalized interpretation of the actual events. We will then enjoy a scenic train ride along a section of the historic Death Railway, offering stunning views of the river and surrounding countryside. A relaxing riverside lunch will be provided for you before we head back to our hotel.

Monday, January 19 (Day 05)
BEST OF BANGKOK EXPERIENCE (B) (L)
We will begin the day with a scenic longtail boat ride along Bangkok’s historic canals, known as klongs, and discover why the city was once nicknamed the “Venice of the East.” Our first stop is the magnificent Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha, considered the most sacred religious icon in Thailand. Within the same complex, we will explore the awe-inspiring Grand Palace, the former royal residence of the Chakri Dynasty, known for its ornate architecture and rich history. Next, we will visit Wat Pho, famous for its impressive Reclining Buddha and its reputation as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. To this day, the temple serves as a center for traditional Thai medicine and wellness practices. We will enjoy a short ride in a classic tuk tuk, Bangkok’s iconic three-wheeled open-air taxi, as we weave through the historic heart of the city. Lunch will be served at a scenic riverside restaurant, where you can savor authentic Thai cuisine with views of the bustling Chao Phraya River. We will continue our day with time to relax and shop at ICONSIAM, Bangkok’s premier luxury riverside mall, offering everything from world-class brands to local artisan products. We will conclude our night with the most famous Lady Boy Show in Bangkok showcasing high energy performance with elaborate costumes, lip syncing and comedy.

AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE – BANG PA-IN SUMMER PALACE – LONGTAIL BOAT RIDE  (B) (L)
This morning, we will step into the world of Thai royalty with a visit to the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace in the historic Ayutthaya province. Once a seasonal retreat for the Siamese kings—and still occasionally used by the royal family today—this elegant complex showcases a captivating blend of Thai, Chinese, and European architecture, set amidst tranquil gardens and ornamental lakes. After touring the palace grounds, we’ll board a traditional longtail boat for a relaxing cruise along the Chao Phraya River, offering picturesque views of riverside temples and local life along the water. We'll round off the morning with a delicious Thai lunch at a local restaurant, savoring authentic flavors in a charming riverside setting.

Thursday, January 22 (Day 08)
CHIANG MAI CITY – THA PHAE GATE – WAT PHRA THAT DOI SUTHEP (B) (L)
Today, we will discover the charm of Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand and the cultural heart of the ancient Lanna Kingdom. We’ll begin our day at the city’s most famous landmark, Tha Phae Gate, originally constructed as part of the city walls during the Lanna period, which began in 1296 AD. This historic gateway once served as a main entrance to the old city and remains a symbol of Chiang Mai’s rich heritage. From there, we’ll wind our way up the forested mountainside to 3,500 feet (approximately 1,066 meters) above sea level to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the most revered temple in Chiang Mai. Enshrined here is a sacred relic of the Lord Buddha, making this site one of northern Thailand's most important pilgrimage destinations. At the summit, we’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the lush countryside below. After our temple visit, we’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can sample authentic northern Thai cuisine. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax, explore the city, or shop at your leisure.

Friday, January 23  (Day 9)
LOCAL MARKET – MAE SA ELEPHANT CAMP – ORCHID FARM – TIGER KINGDOM (B) (L) (D)
We’ll take a pleasant drive north into the countryside to visit the Mae Sa Elephant Camp, set amidst lush, tropical jungle surroundings. We will see the elephants bathe in a cool mountain stream before enjoying a fascinating demonstration showing how these highly trained elephants have traditionally been used in the timber industry. Using their tusks, powerful trunks, and strong feet, they skillfully push, pull, and roll logs with remarkable precision. We’ll make a brief stop at a Long Neck Karen Village for a unique photo opportunity, where you can learn about the distinctive cultural tradition of the Padaung women, known for wearing brass rings around their necks. We will visit an Orchid Farm, where you’ll see a dazzling variety of orchids in bloom and colorful butterflies in flight. Our adventure continues with a visit to Tiger Kingdom, where you’ll have the incredible opportunity to interact with and photograph majestic tigers under the supervision of trained handlers. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant before we return to the hotel to rest and refresh. This evening, a memorable Khan Toke dinner and cultural show will complete the day’s activities. Saturday, January 24 (Day 10)
MAE KACHAM – WHITE TEMPLE - CHIANG RAI PROVINCE- GOLDEN TRIANGLE (B) (L)
Our tour continues with a scenic drive through rolling hills, lush valleys, tropical forests, and charming villages. Along the way, we will take a short break at the Mae Kachan Hot Springs, where you can stretch your legs, mingle with the locals, and observe the natural thermal springs in action. We then continue our journey to the world-famous White Temple, known locally as Wat Rong Khun, located near Chiang Rai town. This stunning, all-white temple with its intricate carvings and mirrored details is a must-visit when exploring northern Thailand, offering a striking fusion of traditional Thai architecture and modern artistic expression. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we will explore more of Chiang Rai Province, beginning with a visit to Chiang Saen, an ancient walled city along the banks of the Mekong River. Once part of the first Thai kingdom, Chiang Saen is home to historic ruins, temples, and remnants of its rich Lanna heritage. We will then drive further to the world-renowned Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar (Burma) meet. This historically significant region, once known for its role in the opium trade, now offers sweeping views of the Mekong River and the convergence of three nations.

Sunday, January 25 (Day 11)
DOI INTHANON NATIONAL PARK (B) (L)
Today, we will journey south of Chiang Mai to explore Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand’s tallest mountain, rising to 2,565 meters (8,415 feet) above sea level — warm clothing is recommended for the cool, misty climate at the summit. Our visit includes the iconic King and Queen Pagodas, built to honor the late King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. We will also explore some of the park’s most impressive waterfalls, cascading through lush, forested landscapes. Before returning to Chiang Mai, we will stop at a Karen hill tribe market, where you can browse locally made handicrafts, produce, and traditional goods while experiencing the culture of one of Thailand’s most well-known ethnic communities.

Monday, January 26 (Day 12)

This morning, we will embark on a delightful culinary adventure with a Thai cooking class at the renowned Chiang Mai Cookery School. Under the guidance of professional instructors, we will learn to prepare and cook a selection of 4 to 5 authentic Thai dishes, gaining hands-on experience with traditional ingredients and cooking techniques. BANGKOK to HANEDA to HONOLULU
We will transfer to Suvarnabhumi Int’l Airport for our flight back to Honolulu with a layover in Haneda International Airport, arriving on the same day due to the crossing of the International Date Line. A meal will be served on board the flight.
